About the Secondary Guidance Counselor Position

The Secondary Guidance Counselor position is a key position for navigating individual student college and career readiness for the William Carey Academy students. This is accomplished through individual student planning, counseling post-secondary preparation and transition, and providing responsive service. Primary duties include:

1) teaching courses supporting transitions into high school and college
2) helping students develop academic plans and portfolio in accordance with their skills, talents and strengths
3) communicating with teachers, parents, and administrators on an ongoing basis about social and academic problems
4) assisting school administrators and educators with planning and carrying out college visits, testing programs and special events

About William Carey Academy

Located in the second largest city in the country, William Carey Academy provides English-medium instruction using an American curriculum.

The goal of the school is to provide a model of international-standard education which will prepare students for study at world-class universities. The school was founded in 1996 with grades K to 3. Each year a new class was added, and in 2006 the first graduation of the 12th grade was held.

In addition to the total monthly stipend of $300, the school is able to offer free housing in apartments within walking distance of the school. William Carey Academy contracts out expatriate staffing recruitment to TeachBeyond.
