About the Teacher (Elementary) Position
International School of Djibouti is seeking teachers for our fourth year of operation. The successful candidate will take up the appointment September 1st, 2019 or earlier. We have four classes at our school which include a pre-school – K, a 1st – 3rd grade class, a 4th – 8th grade, and a web-based high school. Currently, we have around 35 students. For 2019-2020 we will need two teachers to work with our diverse student body of TCKs and Djiboutians to facilitate and teach our curriculum. Our school has a family atmosphere that utilizes an American curriculum with multiple grades in one classroom. Next year we expect a typical class size to be around 15 students.

Candidates should have the following minimum characteristics:
• A bachelor’s degree and experience in the American educational system
• Solid references
• Willingness to make a one or two-year commitment
• Noble-hearted calling to a service post
• Two years’ experience in elementary education
• Experience with non-native English speaking students (ESL certification)
• Certification in an American educational system

As of year 3, we have accreditation through our online high school partner (Calvert Education), however, we don’t have accreditation for our elementary program. We use an American curriculum.
